Lau in the Now

The 2010 Winter Olympics were going to be in Burnaby, B.C., until the City of Richmond convinced VANOC in 2004 that a site beside the Fraser River's Middle Arm would be better for the speedskating oval. VANOC's headquarters were one block from the Vancouver border with Burnaby, where Alfie Lau writes for the Burnaby Now and its sister newspaper, the Royal City Record.
